The Board of Directors of the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) announced today that it is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and innovative Executive Director to maintain and enhance the Coalition’s role as a national leader in working to prevent and end homelessness while ensuring the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness are met and their civil rights protected.

The new executive director will replace Neil Donovan, who has served as its executive director since August 2009.  During this time, Neil has helped the Coalition maintain its position as the leading national advocate for persons experiencing homelessness while improving the financial position of the organization.

“As the Coalition commemorates our 30 year anniversary, we are seeking an individual to help lead us through the next decade to meet the increasing challenges facing persons experiencing homelessness due to declining federal, state and local budgets as well as increased criminalization of homelessness and violence against those living on the streets” said John Parvensky, President of the Coalition Board of Directors.

“We appreciate the leadership Neil has provided over the past four years in fighting for the civil rights of the homeless and working with federal and state partners to prevent and end homeless” said Parvensky.  Donovan will remain in his position as a national search is conducted by the Board.

The Executive Director functions as the chief executive officer for the Coalition, providing fundraising, management, and leadership responsibility in overseeing and implementing programs, research and public policy initiatives. He or she works with a dedicated staff and volunteers, managing a multi-state Americorp VISTA program, overseeing the civil rights and public policy work of the Coalition, and implementing its fundraising and financial management program.  Michael Stoops, who has worked for the Coalition for the past 25 years remains as its Director of Community Organizing along with Megan Hustings, Administrative Officer and Brian Parks, VISTA Project Manager.

We thank you for your continued support of the National Coalition for the Homeless.
