Chillicothe

Seeds of Hope
Event: Seeds of Hope will be having a week’s worth of awareness events! On the final day of the week, they will be holding “One Night without a Home,” where locals sleep in the city park and learn more about the hunger and homelessness situation in their area.

Drop Inn Center
Event: They would like for the community to provide meals and monetary donations to their residents, not only for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, but all year round.

Columbus

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Event: The 2013 midnight sandwich run is a city-wide collaborative of community leaders from various universities and service groups with three goals: 1. Provide networking opportunities for students from different universities, 2. Inspire students to service/missions, 3. Provide both a solution to and awareness of hunger and homelessness. This year's run, happening Nov. 7-9th, will provide 2000 meals over a span of three days. Day 1 is a bag design day (for all 2000 bags), Days 2 and 3 are deployment days for our meal packages.

Newark

Licking County Coalition for Housing
Event: The Licking County Coalition for Housing’s 12th Annual Homelessness Awareness Event spotlights the reality of homelessness in Licking County, OH, by promoting support for the programs that strive to end homelessness in the community. November 4-8: End Homelessness NOW! Display in Downtown Newark, Courthouse Square. Displays will be set up on all quadrants of the courthouse depicting local photos/information on homelessness in Licking County, OH. November 7: End Homelessness NOW! Event. There will be a community meal, music, speakers, and a candlelight vigil in Downtown Newark, Courthouse Square Gazebo. At 5:00 PM, there will be a free community meal. The candlelight vigil will be at 6:00 PM. Local musicians will perform. Speakers will be welcomed to share their experiences, as desired. Community groups will provide donated blankets, coats, and gloves to those in need.

Shelby

Trinity United Methodist Church
Event: On November 23, they will be sleeping out in boxes in downtown Shelby, to raise awareness of homelessness and money for food donations.

Westerville

Southeast Inc.
Event: A Movie Night with Friends Southeast Inc.’s Friends of the Homeless Program will be hosting a viewing of the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness,” a 2006 biographical drama film based on Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle with homelessness. The event will be held on November 21st, as part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week. The free event will take place at The Vineyard Columbus, 6000 Cooper Rd. Westerville, OH 43081. Immediately following the film, a panel discussion regarding homelessness will be held. Doors open at 5:30 PM and the event will conclude at 9:00 PM. Friends of the Homeless staff will also be collecting donations of socks, twin size linens and towels.
