Montgomery County Homeless Coalition
Events:

  • Friday, November 15th & Wednesday, November 20th: Introduction to Bridges Out of Poverty
  • Saturday, November 16th: Changing the Faces of Poverty Community Walk; Project Homeless Connect; Cardboard Cities
  • Sunday, November 17th: A Day of Prayer for those experiencing poverty and homelessness
  • Monday, November 18th: Empty Bowls Lunch
  • Tuesday, November 19th: Take the SNAP Challenge
  • Thursday, November 21st: Poverty Simulation

Dallas

The Art Institute of Dallas
Event: Monday: Vote on Student Projects that campaign for the awareness of the cause
Tuesday: Eating contest - the non-winners will be asked to donate $5
Wednesday: Homeless for a Day - soup will be served to participants
Thursday: Campus Party - admission is $1/1 can food item
Friday: Community Service at nonprofit shelter. All proceeds and donated items collected that week will go to the shelter.

Mesquite

American Heritage Girls Troop 595
Event: The American Heritage Girls Troop 595 will bake some goods and bring them down to Our Calling, a homeless group in Dallas, to serve the homeless people there and pray for them. They will be going in teams on the 16th, 19th and 21st.

San Antonio

McCollum High School National Honor Society
Event: The McCollum High School National Honor Society will host a week-long event. Monday they will have a canned food drive, and all advisory classes that participate will receive a purple ribbon to post outside their classroom doors. Tuesday they will ask 9-12 to give up their cell phone for the day. Wednesday students will wear the same outfit as Tuesday. Thursday will be Raise a Fork to pledge to skip a meal for the homeless this month. Friday students will wear purple to support our Hope for the Homeless Box Out. Friday evening seniors will participate in a night-out in our courtyard by purchasing a $5 ticket donated to a homeless organization. The community will be asked to join, to come out and donate coats, blankets, and canned food.
